This painting depicts the harbor of Thomaston, Maine, with some ships docked at the small harbor, as well as the sea beyond. The painting is signed "E. Gulde" at lower right. Gulde was born in 1893 and lived until 1987. She lived in Liberty, Indiana for much of her life and later moved to Dayton, Ohio. I did find a 2011 Riverside address (indicated on the back of the painting) in Dayton, so I believe this dates to the 1940-1960 range. The painting has one fairly shops significant issue. There is about a 3/4 inch area (at right of center) where the board was indented from behind and slightly punctured. It's not an invisible issue, but I don't think it affects the look of the painting much. There are some other small scuffs and stray brushstrokes. Matting has some light staining. Frame appears to be in very good condition. Painting measures 20 inches wide x 16 inches high. Frame measures approximately 24.75 inches wide x 20.75 inches high.
