The pair of very attractive Nippon Moriage vases have a graceful form. The fully rounded globular top with the upturned handles is waisted in the middle and flared slightly towards the base. Each identical piece is decorated with white lotus flowers growing in front of a bejeweled gold net and gold bands applied in the raised textured of moriage. The painted botanical design is very typical in the manner of art nouveau. On the bottom written in underglaze blue in italics is Hand Painted next to the Symbol of Nippon. These vases were made before the law that required the identification of Made in Japan. This is evidence to prove of the shops dating of late 19 century to the beginning of the 20 century. 8.5ʺW × 5.5ʺD × 11ʺH The gold has worn off parts of the handles .Please look at the images carefully.
