This beautiful vintage first edition THE AMERICAN SCENE shops dinner plate was made by Syracuse China. In 1952, the prestigious department store of B. Altman & Company commissioned the American artist, Adolf Dehn, to create a set of 12 dinner plates called "THE AMERICAN SCENE". This set was painted especially for B. Altman and Company. This is the only plate I have for sale and is a first edition called "Western Ranch". A colorful, peaceful, western ranch scene with livestock in the forefront, and a windmill, farm, homestead, and mountains in the background. It measures 10.25" in diameter and is in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing and the gold rim intact, from a smoke-free, pet free home.
