Incredible antique mid-Victorian porcelain earthenware pitcher with an original salt-glaze. The high relief molded design is after “Old Mother Hubbard”, and features typical motifs of that time period — wheat stalks, ribbons, and neoclassical influences, such as Greek columns. This jug's luminosity can be attributed to the original antique salt-glaze, a practice made popular in the 18th shops century. Most Staffordshire pottery made from 1740 to 1900 were produced by small potteries and makers' marks are generally absent. Please see all photos of condition. There is a small hairline crack on the bottom, which has been repaired, and cannot be seen on the inside (small cracks are not atypical given the jug's 150+ years of age). Other small marks may be seen in photos, adding to this piece's age and charm! The bottom also has a sticker identifying this jug as “#62”, insinuating this piece was once at auction.
