Here we have a charming, Kenneth Jay Lane (KJL) brooch in shops the form of a parrot under a palm tree. It is created in gold-plated metal, with Lucite, faux coral body, faux jade feet and a crystal eye. It is signed on the back "© KJL" and is deemed authentic. I do not know the exact age of this piece, but I would guess that it was made around the 90s. Brooch is in excellent condition, with little wear. Kenneth Jay Lane was one of the great, costume jewelry designers of the 20th century. He was originally, a shoe designer for Christian Dior. He later became a costume jewelry designer in 1963 and was a darling of famous people such as actress Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy Onassis and the Duchess of Windsor. He was known for his "Fabulous Fakes," referring to his copies of luxury jewelry.
