This work was illustrated by Charles R. Knight and Erwin S. Christman. Henry Fairfield Osborn was a geologist and paleontologist. He was a professor of geology at Columbia University and served as Director of the American Museum of Natural History. While at the AMHN, he organized numerous expeditions to China and Mongolia. In this well-illustrated volume, he presents his views on "prehistoric man" focusing primarily on the European record. No ownership marks and few signs of use. 1916. 2nd Edition. Hardcover. Contains original fold-out map at the back of the book. No dust jacket - not sure if it originally had one. Red cover with gold lettering. Cover has some wearon along edges and spine.
